If you are looking for reviews of Lanzarote tours and tour operators, this is the place to start. Here are all our reviews: the platforms where you book, the official centres that sell tickets, the companies that actually run the activities, and the ferry lines.
A disclosure up front: we earn commission from GetYourGuide and Tiqets when you book through our links. Viator, Civitatis, Headout and the three local websites pay us nothing. That does not change the ratings, and when another site is better for a particular case, we say so.
How we judge a company or platform
Our 1–5 rating is not the average of customer reviews. It is an editorial rating based on facts you can check:
- Who they are: a named company with a published address and legal details, or an unidentified website.
- Price against booking direct: whether it charges the same as the company running the activity, more or less.
- Cancellation: whether you can cancel free of charge, until when and with what fees.
- Reviews: whether only customers who booked can review, how many there are and how recent they are.
- Safety and quality: condition of vehicles and boats, insurance, the rules they comply with.
- Customer service: how you complain and what happens when something goes wrong.
Tour booking platforms compared
| Platform | Who they are | Lanzarote | Cancellation | For | Against |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| GetYourGuide | German company, Berlin | about 330 activities | free up to 24 h on almost everything | biggest catalogue and most reviews, no visible booking fees | default sort order weighs commission |
| Civitatis | Spanish company, Madrid | 55 activities | depends on product | leader in Spanish, free tours | Aqualava with no free cancellation |
| Viator | Tripadvisor group, USA | more than 200 | free up to 24 h on the most viewed | wide catalogue | mixes in unverified reviews; submarine €4 dearer |
| Tiqets | Dutch company, Expedia Group | park tickets | until 23:59 the day before, or 24 h | only major channel with Rancho Texas; two-park combo at −10% | does not sell the CACT centres |
| Headout | US company | 20 products | 24 h almost always | — | hardly any reviews; volcano dinner non-refundable |
| TravelON | Gibraltar company | parks, boats, tours | until 14:00 the day before, with a €25 fee | daily phone support | deposits (voucher only) and ferries non-refundable; 2.2 on Trustpilot |
| LanzaroteON | Same company as TravelON | guide + links | TravelON's | practical information | does not sell on its own site; terms left incomplete |
| Excursions Tickets Direct | Sole trader's agency in Costa Teguise | 53 products | free up to 24 h; otherwise a date change | you pay a deposit and the rest on the day | its legal notice is a template about a shoe shop |
What the table shows: the channel matters less than the product. The half-day Timanfaya tour costs €59 on five sites, the La Graciosa ferry €29 on seven and the submarine €65 on five. The real differences lie in cancellation terms and the depth of the reviews.

Platform reviews
GetYourGuide and Civitatis are the two solid choices for almost everything: the first for its catalogue and verified reviews, the second if you want a Spanish-speaking guide. Tiqets is useful for park tickets. Viator competes on price, but its ratings mix in Tripadvisor reviews without a verified booking. Headout, TravelON and LanzaroteON add little compared with the others.
Official centres, museums and parks
At the Cabildo's tourist centres (CACT) the rule is to buy in their official shop, because Timanfaya and the Cueva de los Verdes are sold only online and for a time slot. The Fundación César Manrique and LagOmar are private, not CACT. The Museo Atlántico has not operated as a managed museum since 2020. Aqualava and Rancho Texas cost the same at the gate as on the big platforms; the Aquapark Costa Teguise gives an 8% discount if you buy on its website.
Activity companies: buggies, submarine, jet skis, surfing and paragliding
Here the rating depends on the condition of the vehicles and the guides more than on price. Buggies Lanzarote has been in Puerto Calero since 2015 and is €10 cheaper if you book on its website. "Lanzarote Buggy Tours" is not a buggy company but a reseller, and Can-Am is the vehicle brand (who runs each buggy tour). The Puerto Calero submarine belongs to Submarine Safaris. Paracraft does jet skis and parasailing, not paragliding: paragliding is for other schools.
Ferries and scheduled boats
For La Graciosa there are two ferry companies, Líneas Romero and Biosfera Express, at the same price. To Fuerteventura you can cross with Fred. Olsen and Baleària Canarias (formerly Naviera Armas) and Líneas Romero. Old reviews of Armas predate the change of ownership: do not lump them in with Baleària's.
How to read Tripadvisor, Google and platform reviews
- Who can review? On GetYourGuide only customers who booked can review. On Viator the rating mixes Viator and Tripadvisor reviews, and Tripadvisor reviews do not require a booking.
- Different scales. Civitatis scores out of 10; the others out of 5. An 8.4 on Civitatis is not a 4.2.
- Check the date. Some old complaints about badly maintained buggies refer to manual vehicles the company no longer advertises. The criticism of Naviera Armas dates from before Baleària.
- Volume and score. The best-selling dolphin speedboat in Puerto del Carmen scores 3.8 from more than 2,300 reviews. With 1 or 2 reviews, a 5.0 tells you nothing.
- Order of the list. GetYourGuide and Viator state that revenue influences the default order. Sort by rating or by number of reviews.
If something goes wrong: cancellations and complaints
A single excursion is not a package holiday and carries no 14-day right of withdrawal: what counts is the cancellation policy of whoever sold it to you. If a scheduled ferry is cancelled, EU rules let you choose between another sailing at no cost or a full refund within 7 days, although there is no extra compensation when the cause is bad weather. For excursion boats (catamarans, dolphin trips, the submarine) those rules do not apply, and refunds depend on the platform or the company.
How to complain in the Canary Islands
- Ask the company for written confirmation of the cancellation or the problem (email or WhatsApp).
- Complain to the company's customer service first: they must give you a reference number and reply within 15 working days.
- If they do not reply or you are not satisfied, fill in the official complaint form (hoja de reclamaciones, on paper or via QR code) and submit it to the town hall's consumer office (OMIC) or to the Canary Islands Government's consumer department (Consumo).
- Attach the booking and the company's reply: without proof of your earlier complaint it may not be accepted.
The official procedure is at https://sede.gobiernodecanarias.org/sede/movil/tramites/8160. GetYourGuide, Tiqets and Civitatis are EU companies; Viator and Headout are American, and the company behind TravelON and LanzaroteON is based in Gibraltar, outside the EU.
Is GetYourGuide reliable for Lanzarote tours?
Yes. It is the platform with the most activities on the island (about 330), only publishes reviews from customers who booked, and almost all its excursions can be cancelled free up to 24 hours before. It charges the same as the company running the activity.
Is Civitatis or GetYourGuide cheaper in Lanzarote?
They almost always cost the same: the Timanfaya half day is €59 and the La Graciosa ferry €29 on both. Choose Civitatis if you want a Spanish-speaking guide or the free tours of Arrecife and Teguise; GetYourGuide for a bigger catalogue and free cancellation on tickets such as Aqualava.
Where can I read reviews of Lanzarote tours?
Civitatis has more than 15,000 reviews of Lanzarote, written in Spanish. Tripadvisor has plenty, but does not require a verified booking; GetYourGuide only publishes reviews from customers who booked.
Are LanzaroteON and TravelON the same company?
Yes. Both websites belong to the same Gibraltar company, and LanzaroteON sends its bookings to excursionslanzarote.com, another TravelON website. Comparing prices between them is pointless.
Do I get my money back if a boat trip is cancelled because of bad weather?
If the company cancels, the big platforms refund you. On scheduled ferries you are entitled to another sailing or a full refund within 7 days. Always get the cancellation in writing.
