LagOmar is one of Lanzarote's most photogenic visits: steps cut into the rock, tunnels, a lake and white terraces wedged into a quarry. It is worth €10, especially if you buy on its own website: that allows changes and refunds, something neither the César Manrique Foundation nor Timanfaya offers.
Verdict
4.2/ 5
A one-off place at a modest price, with long opening hours and flexible terms: free date change or refund up to 48 hours before. It loses points for not showing child and resident prices on its homepage, for not being accessible to visitors with reduced mobility, and for the confusion its own fame feeds: it is not a Manrique house.

What LagOmar is (and what it is not)
LagOmar has been a family project since the early nineties and is now run by the second generation of a family of architects. It occupies about 7,000 m² of an old volcanic quarry in Nazaret, in the municipality of Teguise, and you walk through the house, gardens, terraces, tunnels and viewpoints.
According to the official website, it was built "under the influence" of César Manrique with the collaboration of Jesús Soto, who made the iron lamps and adapted the house to the terrain. But it is not a Manrique house: it does not belong to the César Manrique Foundation or to the Cabildo's (island council's) centres (CACT), and it is not covered by any of their tickets.
Omar Sharif: fact and legend
The museum says Omar Sharif acquired the property during his stay on the island. The story that he lost it in a game of bridge 48 hours later is repeated on excursions and blogs, but it does not appear on the official website: treat it as legend. More recent and verifiable: LagOmar was a location for Pedro Almodóvar's film Amarga Navidad (Bitter Christmas).
What you will see
The standard ticket covers Omar Sharif's house, the gardens, terraces, tunnels and viewpoints. Inside there is also an art gallery, a shop, a café, the Bar La Cueva, the lake, a water tunnel and a pool. The museum suggests 45 to 60 minutes.

Direct or on GetYourGuide
The price is the same: €10 on the museum's website and €10 on GetYourGuide, where the ticket is rated 4.7 out of 5 from more than 1,250 reviews. The difference is in the small print: buying direct you can change the date or get a refund free of charge up to 48 hours before, while the GetYourGuide ticket is not listed with free cancellation. If your plans might change, buy on the museum's website.
GetYourGuide does make sense for combinations: LagOmar with Teguise market on Sundays, from €26, or an evening outing with dinner and wine tasting, from €69 (the latter with a lower rating, 4.1).

What travellers say
The LagOmar ticket on GetYourGuide is rated 4.7 out of 5 from more than 1,250 reviews, a high score for that volume. The combination with Teguise market sits at 4.6 and the evening outing with dinner drops to 4.1, so the museum's rating does not depend on the package. What matters most before you go is not reviews but rules: steps, narrow passages and no swimming in the pools.

Getting there
It is in Nazaret, between Arrecife and Teguise, with a free car park opposite the ticket office. By guagua (bus), line 7 Arrecife–Máguez leaves Arrecife at 08:00, 10:00, 17:10 and 22:30 and stops at "Nazaret" about 17 minutes later; the same line stops earlier at the César Manrique Foundation, so you can do both in one morning. The museum warns that the stop on the LZ-10 is about 20 minutes' walk away. If you go on a Sunday, combine it with Teguise market. More options in Lanzarote without a car.
Visitor rules
- No swimming in the pools or the water tunnel, and no walking around in just swimwear.
- No tripods, bulky rucksacks or umbrellas in the galleries.
- Commercial photography needs written permission.
- It is not fully accessible (quarry, steps, narrow passages) and pushchairs only get through part of the route. With a baby, a carrier is better; more ideas in Lanzarote with kids.
