Viator Lanzarote is a sound option if you already use Tripadvisor and want a coach tour with hotel pick-up: prices are the same as on other websites and the best sellers can be cancelled free of charge. Our verdict in one sentence: reliable for booking, less reliable for choosing, because its ratings mix verified customers with reviews nobody checked.

What Viator is and who is behind it
Viator, Inc. is based in Needham, Massachusetts, and describes itself as "a Tripadvisor company". If you book an activity from Tripadvisor, you are really booking with Viator: it is the same shop with two doors.
Viator does not organise the excursions: it sells them on behalf of a local company. Look for that company's name on the listing and, if it is not shown, ask before paying; if the same tour is on another website, it is usually the same company and the same price. You will find the island's companies in our operator reviews.
What Viator offers in Lanzarote
The Lanzarote page shows more than 200 results. The title you see in Google ("the 10 best", "the best 20") is a template, not the size of the catalogue. The best sellers:
- Coach tours: Timanfaya, Jameos del Agua, Cueva de los Verdes and Mirador del Río in one day for €90 (4.8 out of 5, 1,511 reviews); the "Short South Tour" of Timanfaya at €59, with the camel ride extra; Timanfaya express from Yaiza, €62.
- Boats: Papagayo catamaran with lunch €66, catamaran sailing €85 (4.8, 840 reviews), Papagayo mini-cruise €35, La Graciosa cruise €66.
- Buggies: 3-hour Can-Am at €170 per vehicle; on-road buggy €180.
- Hiking and visits: Timanfaya walk €44 (4.9, 416 reviews), guided visit to the Salinas de Janubio salt pans €22.
- Ferries: La Graciosa €29, Fuerteventura €20.
Before booking a "Timanfaya" tour, remember how the park works: entry to the Montañas del Fuego costs €30, is sold online only in time slots, and you cannot explore it on your own. We explain it in the Timanfaya guide.
Prices: Viator versus other websites and booking direct
In Lanzarote, platforms resell at the price set by the local company. Viator is no exception, apart from the odd case:
| Product (adult) | Direct / official | Viator | GetYourGuide | Civitatis |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Timanfaya half day | park entry €30 | €59 | €59 | €59 |
| Full day Timanfaya + Jameos + Cueva | the three tickets: €64 | €90 | €89 | €99 (with tickets) |
| Ferry to La Graciosa, return | €29 | €29 | €29 | from €29 |
| Excursion to Fuerteventura | ferry only: €39 return | €62 | €62 | €62 |
| Puerto Calero submarine | €61.75 online | €69 | €65 | €65 |
| Can-Am buggy, 3 h, per vehicle | — | €170 | €170 | — |
The submarine is the clear example: €69 on Viator, €65 elsewhere and €61.75 booking online with the operator. If it interests you, read our submarine guide and the Submarine Safaris review. For the La Graciosa ferry it makes no difference where you buy: €29 everywhere.
| Platform | Product | Rating | Price | Where |

| GetYourGuide | Lanzarote: Ferry to La Graciosa with Wi-Fi (free parking) | 4.7 (1,148) | €29 | See on GetYourGuide |
| Tiqets | La Graciosa: Ferry from Lanzarote | 4.7 (7) | €29 | See on Tiqets |
| Official | Return on the ferry line's website | — | €29 | Official site ↗ |

What travellers say about Viator
On Trustpilot, Viator averages 4.4 out of 5 from more than 332,000 reviews. For Lanzarote, the useful thing is to look listing by listing and know what you are reading:
- Not all ratings come from verified customers. Viator adds its reviews to Tripadvisor's, and Tripadvisor does not require a booking. A listing with many old Tripadvisor reviews can look better than it is today.
- Highest rated: the full day around the north and Timanfaya (4.8), catamaran sailing (4.8), the Papagayo mini-cruise (4.8) and the Timanfaya walk (4.9).
- Weakest: Aquapark Costa Teguise with optional transfer (3.4 from 22 reviews), the day trip to Fuerteventura (3.9) and the Teguise market + La Graciosa combo (3.9).
By default the list appears in "Featured" order, and Viator states that its revenue may influence that order. Sort by rating or by number of reviews if you want a different view.
How to book and cancel on Viator
How to book without surprises
- Switch the currency to EUR and find the activity on the Lanzarote page.
- Open the listing and check the name of the company running the excursion, the pick-up point and the guide's language.
- Check that listing's cancellation policy: on most it is free up to 24 h before, but some products are marked final sale.
- Keep the confirmation: it shows the local company to contact on the day of the excursion.
One detail if you collect Viator Rewards: points are switched off for 30 days when you reach Viator from any website's affiliate link. If they matter to you, go straight to the app or viator.com. The terms are at https://www.viator.com/rewards.
A fixed-date excursion carries no 14-day right of withdrawal: the listing's policy applies. If the company cancels because of sea conditions, you get your money back; ask for the cancellation in writing before claiming from Viator, which is a US company.
Alternatives to Viator in Lanzarote
- GetYourGuide: the widest catalogue on the island, reviews only from customers who booked and free 24-hour cancellation on almost everything. It is our partner.
- Civitatis: the best option if you want a Spanish-speaking guide, with two free tours (Arrecife and Teguise).
- Tiqets: for park tickets, Rancho Texas included.
- Direct: the submarine and the Centros Turísticos (Jameos, Cueva de los Verdes, Timanfaya) are best bought on their own websites. The centres' official shop is https://ventaonline.cactlanzarote.com/en/tickets-and-vouchers; more detail in our CACT review.
To choose the excursion before the platform, start with things to do in Lanzarote or boat trips.

Frequently asked questions
Is Viator reliable for booking excursions in Lanzarote?
Yes. It is Tripadvisor's excursion shop, generally charges the same price as the local company and almost all the best sellers can be cancelled free of charge up to 24 h before. Its ratings are the less reliable part, as they mix in unverified Tripadvisor reviews.
Is Viator more expensive than GetYourGuide in Lanzarote?
Hardly ever: Timanfaya half day €59, La Graciosa ferry €29 and the Fuerteventura excursion €62 on both websites. The exception is the Puerto Calero submarine, €69 on Viator against €65.
Are Viator and Tripadvisor the same company?
Viator is "a Tripadvisor company". Activities you book on Tripadvisor are processed through Viator.
Can you cancel a Viator excursion?
It depends on the listing. The usual policy is free cancellation up to 24 h before, but there are final-sale products with no refund. Check before you pay.
Does Viator sell excursions from Lanzarote to Fuerteventura?
Yes: the ferry costs €20 and the day trip with coach €62, rated 3.9. Compare with our guide to Fuerteventura from Lanzarote.
