Lanzarote does not have a single party zone: the tourist office talks of five nightlife areas spread around the island, each with its own style. If you want a club until dawn, head to Puerto del Carmen. If you would rather eat well, see a show or taste wine among the volcanoes, you have more to choose from. Here are the areas, the shows you can book, the tastings and the rules worth knowing.
The area with the most hotel beds on the island is also the liveliest. The night is split between the Avenida de las Playas, a promenade of about 7 km with beaches on one side and bars, restaurants and shops on the other, and El Varadero, the old harbour of the former fishing village of La Tiñosa. On the avenue there are a handful of clubs that close in the small hours, some at 06:00, with a mostly young crowd.
Puerto del Carmen is also home to the two drag shows you can book online (see below) and the harbour the evening cocktail boat leaves from. If you are staying elsewhere, read the Puerto del Carmen guide before working out taxis back.
In the capital, the plan is tapas and drinks around Charco de San Ginés, the inlet remodelled to a design by César Manrique, and late drinks at Marina Lanzarote, which according to the tourist office carries on "until the early hours". It is a more local night out than in the resorts. Arrecife also hosts the Arrecife En Vivo and Sonidos Líquidos festivals. More in the Arrecife guide.

Lanzarote: Evening Tapas, Winery & Lagomar Experience
4.1 (190)from €69
The evening show with the most reviews on GetYourGuide is the Music Hall Tavern (MHT) comedy drag dinner show, in the La Peñita shopping centre in Puerto del Carmen: live vocals, a three-course dinner and a photo with the performers, from €49 on GetYourGuide (4.7 from 771 reviews) or on Tiqets for the same price (read our Tiqets review). Allow 4 to 6 hours for the evening.
The cheaper alternative is Guapatini Live, at Guapatini's Show Bar in Puerto del Carmen: 3 hours of songs and comedy for €20, rated 4.9. The show is entirely in English; if you have friends along who do not speak it, the dinner show is the better pick.
For a more family-style night with free-flowing beer and sangria, the Country Night at Rancho Texas runs on Tuesdays and Fridays from 18:30 to 22:45, with a barbecue buffet and a lasso and whip show. The price only appears when you book; resellers advertise it at around €62 per adult.

If beer is more your thing, GetYourGuide also lists a craft brewery and wine tour for about €89. For a day of wineries without a designated driver, the three wineries with transfer trip (€89, 8 people maximum) gets round the problem of drink-driving. Remember that El Grifo only opens Monday to Friday; Rubicón, Stratvs and Bodega La Geria open every day.
